The Weyburn Security Bank was a bank established by a group of American investors in 1910 as a private, taking advantage of the land rush occurring in Weyburn at the time. It became a chartered bank in 1911, and grew to serve 33 communities in the region holding $6 million worth of assets. Unfortunately, the Great Depression brought the bank to its knees, leading to its purchase by CIBC (who at the time, did not have any branches south of Regina). CIBC still operates a branch in the building to this day.

Headquarters

Its headquarters were located in the Weyburn Security Bank Building, located on 76 3rd Street in Downtown Weyburn. It was designed by Long, Lamoureux and Long, a firm located in Minnesota, using a two-story design with Terracotta elements. It carries traits of both the Classical revival style, and Chicago School style typically seen on financial buildings in the mid-western United States,

On November 24, 1984, the Weyburn Security Bank Building was named a Provincial Heritage Property by the Saskatchewan government.
