Eighteen rods, thence W. twelve rods, thence S. 46º W. ten rods, thence S. 36º W. thirty two rods, to the river side, thence Easterly by twenty links to the first mentioned boundary […] [2] also another piece adjoining the above […] from a cedar stake running West seven rods, North fifteen rods, East seven rods and South fifteen rods to the place of beginning […] ». Vente effectuée pour la somme de 52 « Pounds », 19 « shillings » et 4 « pence ».

Résumé : Matteson vend, pour la somme de 41 « Pounds », une partie du lot no 1 du 9e du canton de Stanstead, incluant les installations de sa fonderie. Terrain décrit ainsi : « …upon the Canal on the Westwardly side of the King’s Highway leading to Derby bounded upon the Northeastwardly or upper side of the piece of land owned by Freeman Haskell […] together with the Betterments building and improvements thereon erected and made, including all and singular the patterns flasks and apparatus for carrying on the Iron Foundry business […] ».

Résumé : Location du Moulin à carder pour cinq ans, pour la somme de 6 pounds 5 shillings par année : « Right and privilege of Carding Wool in the upper part or story of the East half of a certain wooden building situate upon Lot number one in the ninth range of Stanstead aforesaid at the head of the Canal, being the same now or lately by the said Otis Warren used for the purpose of carding wool […] with the right of drawing water from the said canal […] ».

Sale of Machinery by Otis Warren, Wool Carder of the Township of Stanstead, to Harris Way, Clothier of the same Township.

Résumé : Vente de la machinerie nécessaire au fonctionnement du Moulin à carder, pour la somme de 87 pounds 10 shillings (voir # 694).

In 1827, Harris Way purchased from the heirs of Freeman Haskell the clothier’s shop and the greater part of the other property, and subsequently bought the shop and other real estate of Otis Warren. Mr. Way continued in business until 1855, and then sold out to Ozro Morrill. (p. 34)
Otis Warren:

In 1815, Otis Warren built a large shop, using the water power from the canal, and carried on for many years an extensive business in wool carding, and in the manufacture of various kinds of machinery required in the settlements. Mr. Warren sold to Harris Way in 1837 and removed to Montreal. (p. 33)
