      • Sur Leroy Robinson : "Robinson was born in Fairhaven, Vermont, on November 15, 1820, and served as an apprentice for some time in newspaper offices in Whitehall, New York and Rutland, Vermont. At the age of nineteen, he and another man called Southmayd joined forces to publish The Vermont Statesman at Castleton. When that endeavor finally folded du to lack of popular interest and, hence, lack of funds, Robinson came to Rock Island. [...] ...on November 6, 1845, he printed The Stanstead Journal's first edition in White's Building, Rock Island. (Today, the exact situation of White's Building on Main Street is unknown.) [...] Robinson operated out of White's Building for about a year and a half. Then, in June of 1847, The Journal moved to the second storey of Wood's Building, which stood where the Royal Bank is now located, and there it remained until 1855. In that year, the office moved to Blake's Building on the sit of the present Canadian Customs Office, Charles Pierce having sold the northern part of his property and it having been purchased eventually by LeRoy Robinson [mars 1861, voir acte notarié ci-dessous]. Blake's Building housed The Journal for almost sixty years. [...] In December of 1895, [...], the Journal Printing Company was formed and John Holland was back again, this time as LeRoy Robinson's partner. The association lasted until Robinson died on February 14, 1901. Shortly after that date, the widowed Mrs. Robinson sold her interests in the business to John Holland, who then became its full owner".
