      • Sur John Calvin Holland : "In 1882, a sixteen-year-old boy caled John Calvin Holland left his home at Bolton Centre to come to Rock Island to serve as LeRoy Robinson's apprentice or "devil". He worked for The Journal in this capacity for four years and then went off to Montreal and New England to gain further experience. When he was twenty-six, he re-entered Robinson's employ but left once more in 1895 [...]. In December of 1895, a bare two months after this announcement, the Journal Printing Company was formed and John Holland was back again, this time as LeRoy Robinson's partner. The association lasted until Robinson died on February 14, 1901. Shortly after that date, the widowed Mrs. Robinson sold her interests in the business to John Holland, who then became its full owner. [...] The publisher died on March 15, 1949. [...] In December of 1948, [...], The Journal's second owner had sold the paper to one John Sancton".
