    • He was a prominent mover in the establishment of the Eastern Townships Bank; of which he was elected President in 1859. This was the first chartered bank put into operation in the Townships.

It is located at Sherbrooke; has an agency at Stanstead Plain; A. P. Ball, Esq., son-in-law of Col. Pomroy is the manager of this agency. [...]

      • Mr. Ball was for many years engaged in mercantile business at Sherbrooke; but subsequently removed to Stanstead Plain, where, in addition to the business of the bank agency, he sustains the office of magistrate, and is otherwise employed in public affairs.

Five of the children were born during the residence of the family in Sherbrooke. Of late they have lived on the place long owned and occupied by Erastus Lee, uncle of Mrs. Ball, enjoying a home of great value and comfort in Stanstead.
