William Woodroffe ("W.W.") Garthwaite (July 20, 1852 – December 14, 1946) was an important banker in Oakland. He served as president of the Oakland Bank of Savings in 1916, and was a major investor in the Hotel Oakland.

Garthwaite married Mary Lowe Mason (Garthwaite) and they had (at least) two children, John Woodroffe ("J.W.") Garthwaite and Helen Garthwaite (Tashiera). Helen's husband Arthur Tashiera was in the law firm McKee, Tashiera and Wahrhaftig.

He was also active in the Chamber of Commerce, and on the board of the Deaf, Dumb and Blind Asylum in Berkeley. Gartwaite was the treasurer of the board for the YMCA when a new building was being constructed in 1909. 1
