The Hotel Avalon was a medium-sized hotel at the northeast corner of 20th and Telegraph. The building was constructed beginning in 1906 for Dr. R.T. Stratton, and designed by architect Frederick Soderberg. 2

The ground level had retail spaces, and the upper floors were leased to William Harfst to run the hotel. The hotel had 50 rooms and 12 baths. 2

In 1946, there were plans to demolish the hotel and construct a new building, 3 but those apparently fell through, because the hotel was still listed in a 1963 classified. 4
