Daniel Belknap (1926-2013) and his wife Honey Belknap were co-founders of the 415 Society, a nonprofit training program that helped unemployed welfare dependents go back to work. Each year, over 3000 clients worked in Oakland regional parks removing dead trees and selling firewood. The project ran one of the earliest recycling programs in the Bay Area. Mr. Belknap was also a social worker for Alameda County while working for the Society.
