The company motto for the Bay View Pure Water was "Pure Water - That's All ... Something You Must Have ... Something We Can Furnish You." Back in 1916 water was .40 cents for a single 5 gallon bottle, which seems expensive, anywhere from $6 or more in 2014 dollars. The plant was located in Oakland from 3327 to 3335 - 64th Avenue, in the Elmhurst district. Advertised as 'Pure Natural Live Water, Not Distilled or Treated in Any Manner' as though they were just filling up bottles from the tap. Which, as many of us probably suspect, might be what some bottle water companies might do today. The more things changes, the more they stay the same?
