The Car on the Ice is a contest run every year by the Menomonie Lion's Club to raise money for local charities. It is a raffle in which participants buy a ticket and guess when the old clunker sitting on Lake Menomin is going to fall through the ice. Prizes are awarded to the people whose guesses were closest to the actual date, and a drawing is held for other ticket-holders.

A similar car on the ice is featured in the novel American Gods by Neil Gaiman, who lived near Menomonie.
