Miami, which is a city in south Florida, could be seen to be completely washed away by the end of this century. This article states that even without rainy seasons or hurricanes, the water levels are still rising fast enough. Also, Miami is a very flat piece of land so when the sea levels do rise, it is going to take Miami down with it. The author stated that we already see horrific flooding in Miami. "Estimates vary on the exact degree of sea level rise, but the US National Ocean Service suggests global sea levels could rise by nearly 6 feet by 2100." However, this is bad news for Miami because it is only 6 feet above sea level, which means at the rate there is no hope. This in turn has not stopped people from buying luxurious waterfront properties in Miami. Researchers think that this could be because the actual affects of Miami becoming underwater will not effect them while they are alive, so they prefer to enjoy the scenery while they can. As stated in the article, some "eco conscious" buyers will look at the estate of Eighty Seven Park. Eighty Seven Park is a luxurious condominium in Miami that is known for being highly elevated off the ground. The real estate market seems to be doing fine despite the fear of Miami going underwater, but it does not stop the scientific evidence that in about 80 years 6 feet of Miami's beautiful land will most likely be 6 feet under water.
