VERMONTVILLE - Joseph P. Tucker Sr., 77, of Vermontville, died Tuesday, March 31, 1987, at Saranac Lake General Hospital.

He was born Nov. 12, 1909, in Vermontville, the son of David and Daisy (Moosoo) Tucker. He had been a lifelong resident of Vermontville and had been employed as a caretaker at the Eagle Island Girl Scout Camp in Upper Saranac Lake for 15 years, retiring in 1978.

He is survived by his wife, Doris (Skeels) Tucker, who he married Aug. 23, 1931; four sons, Joseph of Mallory, N.Y., Albert of Tupper Lake, Ernest of Janesville, Wise, and Gerald of Costantia, N.Y.; a daughter, Mrs. Isabelle Bickford of Vermontville; three sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Pratt of Lake Placid, Mrs. Agnes Hugg of Malone and Mrs. Mildred Phillips of Saranac Lake; 32 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours at the Fortune Funeral Home are today from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.

The funeral service will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Fredrick Dennis, pastor of St. Luke's Church, officiating.

Burial will be in Union Cemetery in Vermontville in May.
