Rick Steve's favorite castle.  Eltz Castle is a medieval castle nestled in the hills above the Moselle River between Koblenz and Trier, Germany. It is still owned by a branch of the same family that lived there in the 12th century, 33 generations ago

Eltz Castle will be open daily from  29th March 2015 until 1st Nov. 2015  from 9.30 to 17.30.  A tour is needed to enter the castle.  A guided tour by one of our expert guides begins every 10-15 minutes and takes 35 – 40 minutes.

Foreign visitors who cannot attend a tour in their own language receive a free translation in Chinese, English, French, Italian, Japanese, Dutch, Portuguese, Russian or Spanish. For further information please enquire at the Ticket Sales Desk or in the castellan’s office (upper courtyard).

We can offer guided tours in English, French and Dutch as well as special tours for kindergarten groups and school classes by prior arrangement.

The Treasury can be visited without a guide by showing your valid ticket between 09:30 and 18:00. All exhibits are labelled in German. Foreign visitors are given a free flyer with English translations of the labels.

There are also several hikes in the area.
