There are very many pharmacies everywhere in Aachen. You can easily recognize them by their symbol shown on this photo or look up an address on the internet.

The closest ones to the RWTH are:
Malteser Apotheke        Pontstraße 157
Sankt Pauls Apotheke   Jakobstraße 9

Remember that it is not simply possible to walk into the pharmacy and order any kind of medicine that you need. You need a prescription from a doctor for strong medicine. Even if you know exactly how the product that you need to take is called, even if you already have been taking some sort of pills for many years, even if you are willing to pay for the product in cash – you need a prescription from a doctor and there is no way to avoid that.

Some products are free to buy without prescription, for example cough syrup, headache tablets, Paracetamol, Aspirin, food supplements and homeopathic medicine.

The prices for medicine products are fixed, that means all pharmacies are equally expensive.

The pharmacies usually close at 6 or 7pm on workdays and even earlier on Saturdays. They remain closed on Sundays, but don’t worry: There is a special service for emergencies. If you urgently need to buy medicine at night or on Sundays look up which pharmacy is on duty for this date. http://www.aknr.de/notdienst/notdienst_kalender?id=174
This pharmacy might not always be very close to where you live and often you cannot simply walk into this pharmacy at night times, but you need to ring a bell or speak through an intercom.
